Let’s drink to that!

I often hear people say “Life is short”. It’s a cliché. Stories, movies, text messages, and even posts suggest how we should appreciate everything we have and let our loved ones know how much they mean to us. Still, it’s easier said than done. Though I know how things can change in a matter if split seconds and I have proven many times how one can lose everything in a blink of an eye, I still don’t know how to make each day count. Don’t get me wrong. I’m doing my best to do that. I just don’t know if what I do is enough.

Today, as I was checking my mails, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and WordPress, it occurred to me that I am surrounded by a lot of different people. Some are close to me, others are not. Some I get in touch with, others I don’t. Some are appreciated, others are unnoticed. Most of them I know personally, others I know by name.

Underground River: One of World’s New Seven Wonders of Nature

A few months ago, the Underground River in Puerto Princesa Palawan was declared as one of the new seven wonders of nature. Before it was officially announced, there were many advertisements persuading people to vote for it. Definitely, I was one of those proud Filipinos who voted online and through text. I was vigorously, promoting it in Facebook and Twitter when it occurred to me that I, myself, have not yet seen how wonderful Underground River is. I mean, I voted for it because it is in the Philippines, that’s a given. But does it really deserve to be one of the world’s new seven wonders of nature?

And to answer that question, my family and I decided to see with our own eyes the natural wonder that is Underground River and witness why among many other tourist destinations it was nominated. Continue reading

Valentine’s Day is just an ordinary day for me. No red roses. No chocolates. No stuffed animal. No candlelight dinner. It’s okay. No big deal. Ooops! I am not bitter, okay? I’m in love. And it’s not that I am not a romantic person because I am (believe me, I’m romantic! haha!). It’s just that for me when you love someone, you have to make that person feel that he/she is loved and appreciated all the time. Yes, every single moment, making every single day special—not just on February 14. Yeah, I’m too idealistic, I know, but I prefer romantic dates on an ordinary day and I’d rather be given a bouquet of red roses and chocolates when I’m having a bad hair day. I find it more romantic, sweet, and sincere when I least expect it. Most especially when I least deserve it.
